YMBL - Austin Sunshine Camps

Austin Sunshine Camps

For 30 years, the Schlotzsky's Bun Run has benefited the Austin Sunshine Camps. Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps was created in 1928 by the Young Men's Business League of Austin (YMBL) and for more than 80 years, have been serving low income youth of Austin and the surrounding areas. The huge volunteer base of Schlotzsky's and the YMBL allows the Bun Run proceeds to benefit the children. Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps serve more than 850 high potential, low income youths annually by providing year-round programs, and by giving kids the unforgettable experience of a real summer camp. The camp sessions are week-long, overnight retreats that include canoeing, hiking, swimming and other activities all at no cost to the children or their families. The YMBL volunteers help motivate children to excel in school, and encourage older children to think about college and their future. Austin Sunshine Camps also provide academically based programs throughout the year such as Wednesday night tutoring and mentoring, life skills retreats and community service opportunities. Since inception, Sunshine Camps and the YMBL have proudly served more than 46,000 youth completely free of charge. For more information, visit www.sunshinecamps.org.

YMBL

The YMBL, founded in 1913, is one of the oldest and most respected social service organizations in Austin. It enables men to grow professionally by working with others toward a common MISSION:

"To provide programs for deserving children in Austin and the surrounding area, which aid in their professional development and teach the skills necessary to succeed in school and in life. In short, we are a non-profit, non-political organization, dedicated to taking the risk out of Austin's at-risk youth."

Schlotzsky's

In 1971, a small shop on South Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas was home to a single, one-of-a-kind sandwich. The menu was succinct: one delectable sandwich composed of a unique combination of premium meats, cheeses, and marinated black olives served on hot Schlotzsky's sourdough bread. From humble origins, The Original® created a passionate customer following. Over the last 40 years, Schlotzsky's has grown into an international franchise restaurant chain with locations in 37 states and seven foreign countries. As we've grown, customers' tastes have evolved, and so has our menu. The Original® sandwich is still the mainstay of Schlotzsky's, but today you can also enjoy fresh baked bread, delicious hot sandwiches, specialty pizzas, toasted wraps, freshly tossed salads, gourmet soups, and more! Yet even with an expanded offering, and hundreds of franchises, our tastes remain true to our roots. Schlotzsky's is still using the highest quality ingredients to make the world's best sandwich. Stop by for a refreshing Coca-Cola, The Original®, or a toasted wrap — you may be surprised by what you find.
